How to Set Up Your Clam Sentinel Portable Setting up your Clam Sentinel ice fishing shelter is quick and straightforward. This pop-up hub style shelter provides excellent wind protection and warmth on the ice. Following a systematic approach ensures you set it up safely without damaging the fabric or the fiberglass poles. 1. Choose and Clear Your Site
Clear the snow. Clear away deep snow down to the hard ice layer.
Check the wind. Identify the wind direction before unpacking your shelter.
Position the door. Face the main door away from the oncoming wind. 2. Unpack and Anchor the Base
Unzip the bag. Remove the shelter and the anchor pouch from the carry bag. Lay it flat. Spread the shelter flat on the ice surface.
Secure the windward corner. Screw one ice anchor into the ice on the side facing the wind.
Hook the loop. Attach the shelter’s corner strap to this first anchor to prevent it from blowing away. 3. Deploy the Roof and Walls
Pop the roof first. Step inside the slack fabric or reach to the center hub.
Pull the roof loop. Tug the center roof webbing loop firmly upward until the hub clicks into place. Pop the side walls. Move around the outside of the shelter.
Pull the wall loops. Pull each exterior wall hub loop straight out until the walls snap open. 4. Secure the Interior and Exterior
Bank the skirt. Push loose snow onto the exterior ice skirt to seal out drafts.
Install ice anchors. Screw the remaining ice anchors through the grommets in the skirt corners.
Attach tie-downs. In high winds, attach the included guy lines to the hub loops and anchor them down.
Adjust ventilation. Open the interior air vents slightly to prevent moisture buildup and condensation.
